Wenger opts for experience over youth

Well to start with I’m not suprised that Vito Mannone is the only player outside the first-team to be named in the Carling Cup squad for tonight’s semi-final with Spurs. The youngsters, such as Mark Randall, Henri Lansbury and Kieran Gibbs have all performed well in previous rounds of the Carling Cup, but tonight’s game is of such importance that Wenger has drafted in several first team players, including the likes of Fabregas, Hleb and Adebayor. Gibbs has a foot problem anyway so he couldn’t be included.

The Reserves game last night was an entertaining affair and it was a shame to see Gavin Hoyte sent off, although he could have no arguments about the decision. His studs were clearly showing and the referee had no choice but to send him off. As I touched on last night, Sanchez Watt played well and Cedric Evina was impressive on his debut. The Frenchman was quick but his close control let him down although he did try his best for the team. You can read Neil Banfield’s views here.

Loan watch from the weekend. Good to see Vela amongst the goals again. I can’t wait to see him in an Arsenal shirt.

A Report from the u-18s match with Portsmouth.

    And that’s it.

More tomorrow and thanks for reading.

Great job as always – I have to say though that I much preferred the old site design for the website, it was much cleaner, professional and easy to use.

Keep up the great work with the content though.

      Cheers

As an ardent supporter of Arsenal for at least 45 years,I was very pleased to see the STRONG squad named for to-day’s semi-final against the old rivals.
I am convinced that even if the likes of Cesc,Ade are on the bench, the youngsters will benefit from their prenence and we will make it to Wembley

I’ll exchange blog links, no probs.

I thought your other template was the bollocks, it looks great in red as well.

If you put a disclaimer on your page, indicating your site isn’t part of Arsenal you are ok. The site that got taken down had nicked pics directly from the site and incorporated them on his banner, and it looked so smart, it could have been and Arsenal affiliated site. Thats when they get the hump.

Most of the other blogs have Arsenal related pics, including ours, but we’ve been ok… so far!

Anyway, Great blog! Check out Le-Grove for the match review tomorrow!

      Come on you Gooners!

I personally do not think there can be any excuses because we lost fair and square to the better team over the Carling Cup Semifinal tie IMO

      wow 5 – 1.

A few players were found out tonight.

The keeper was nervous before the game, and after the first goal his confidence was shot.

Diaby was poor. He did not release the ball early enough, and kept shooting, but not on target. Poor Traore made runs for him on the left flank, but he never got the ball from Diaby.

Gilberto, was off the pace. He was at fault for the Lennon goal as he did not chace back.

Lets hope the likes of Flamini and Rosicky can make us more solid against Newcatle and that we get our defence back soon.
