Five-star display for Arsenal
Arsenal thrashed Burnley 5-1 in the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup on Friday night. A hat-trick from Henri Lansbury, plus strikes from Mark Randall and Kieran Gibbs set up an enticing 4th Round tie with Liverpool later this month.
It wasn’t the best start, however, for the Gunners as they went behind in under two minutes after some poor defending. However, Arsenal bounced back and Lansbury drew Arsenal level on 13 minutes after Burnley struggled to clear. Henri was to have a fantastic game and was involved in the second goal as well, laying on the ball for Mark Randall to score. Mark then crashed a header against the bar as Arsenal seized the initiative. Just before the break Kieran Gibbs effectively sealed the tie with a sweet strike from a tight angle. Gibbs played with more freedom tonight and performed much better than he did on Monday for the reserves. Perhaps he saves his best for the big occasions, having performed well against Man.Utd last year and also against Inter in pre-season. Burnley tried their hardest to get back into the game, but their hard work was to no avail. Lansbury and Randall linked up well once more, this time Henri finished from Mark’s pinpoint cross. Lansbury completed the rout, and his hat-trick, towards the end of the game to seal a fine performance from the young Gunners. Merseyside awaits, and considering we were without the likes of Merida, Barazite, Nordtveit and Murphy makes the result much, much sweeter.
Arsenal: Szczesny, Ogogo, G.Hoyte (Bartley), Dunne, Steer, Rodgers, Randall, Fonte, Watt (Sunu), Gibbs (Thomas), Lansbury. Subs not used: Shea, Cruise

Thanks for the report, mate, much appreciated.
Thanks dude, it’s gud to hear about what happens to our youngsters since i am all the way in Africa. I hear theres gna be an english revival at Arsenal now, are any of these young gunnners ready for the challenge of firstteam football?
yeah, we had three different english scorers tonight, and lansbury is a real prospect. he should be in the first team next season, along with kieran gibbs. Mark Randall is good as well, but then of course there are the foreign lads like nordtveit, barazite and merida. However, i don’t think any of these players are strong enough to cope with the physical aspect of the Premier League, so a season out on loan would do them good
thankx m8 4 de match report! if u can get a video ov de match highlights den it would be much appreciated!!
i’ll try and find a video, but it might be quite difficult so i might not be able to
Keep up the good work mate!
Really enjoyed reading your match report
hi cheers mate, is henri lansbury good enough for 1 st team selection. Wenger got to give him a chance maybe ahead of denilson. As for Kieran gibbs is he a winger or a Cm . When he plays wing does he look like a natural winger? does he have something special like beating people on the outside as as inside. I hear we are in for Nikolay dimitrov is that true? well that could prevent Gibbs from progressing
Cheers mate – fantastic website. Great to hear result. Arsenal.com still haven’t posted the result!! They are so slow with Reserves/Youth news & results.
Fantastic work Jeorge!
i want lansbury to play instead of denilson in the CC
You’re doing a great job with this blog!
Great job,thanks for the update!
i think the dmitriov rumour could be true, but wenger would prefer gibbs to make it rather than him. Yeah, Denilson was poor the other night, but it would be interesting to see lansbury play a whole game in the first team
thabks for the match report mate and um do you think you could show a video of the goals
i can’t find any videos at the moment. sorry
Wenger mentioned two outstanding 14-year olds who technically “can’t progress any more”. Any idea who he was talking about?
i’ve been asked this a couple of times, but i’m not sure who they are
thanx dude i love whatever goes on at arsenal. N i had there is a brazilian dude comin in. This club is the best yall
thanks again for the report mate! appreciate it!
