Dutch attacker Vincent van den Berg will join Go Ahead Eagles on loan from January 2, until the end of the season, it was announced today. It is thought that former Arsenal player Marc Overmars played a part in the move as he is involved with the Netherlands club. I think that this means that, at the end of the season when the loan expires, Vincent will probably join them in a permanent move because, in my eyes, he just hasn’t performed well enough for Arsenal in the time that he’s been here.
Queens Park Rangers now have to wait until January 2 to get their hands on Matthew Connolly. It was revealed yesterday that QPR are on the verge of signing the defender who has been at Colchester on loan this season. Now, Colchester boss Geraint Williams has revealed that he will return to Arsenal on the 2nd of January, paving the way for a transfer bid from QPR. However, with Toure off to the African Cup of Nations next month there could be a slight possibility that he might just return to Arsenal.
Lambeth born Kieran Gibbs is definiely one for the future. Last season, whilst only a first-year scholar, he scored a memorable goal against Man.Utd at Emirates Stadium in the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup. He impressed Arsene Wenger so much that, not only did he play in the Emirates Cup in July, but he was also named in the Champions League squad this season. A left-winger by trade, Kieran is a constant threat to the opposition as he often uses his pace and good close control to get past players. He has played for England at youth level and will be looking to build on the two appearances he has made for the Arsenal first-team this season, both of which have come in the FA Cup.
