Teenage sensation John Bostock to join Arsenal?

With only a few days to go until the January transfer window opens its doors, the media are rife with speculation about Arsenal signing the likes of Karim Benzema and Luka Modric. Look a little closer, however, and you will realise that it’s not just world superstars being linked with us, but some of the greatest young talent the world has to offer. I’ve already mentioned Tresor Mputu, who was on trial with us a couple of weeks back and last week it emerged that we are close to signing Gillingham wonderkid Luke Freeman. Today, after flicking through the morning papers, I managed to find out that we are in talks with Crystal Palace concerning their 15 year-old Theo Walcott lookalike youngster John Bostock. He is 6ft tall and is a midfielder with an eye for goal. He can also pull off the odd trick if need be. He’s definitely one to look out for.

  

Loan watch: Mixed fortunes for Simpson

Keep up to date with the fortunes of all our young players who are currently out on loan from the club. This season, Jay Simpson is at Millwall until January, Kerrea Gilbert is at Southend, Matthew Connolly will spend the entire season with Championship side Colchester and Carlos Vela is with Osasuna in Spain.

Jay Simpson had an eventful afternoon for Milwall yesterday. Despite scoring on 38 minutes, he was then booked for his celebration as he left the field of play. It was his second yellow card and he was dismissed by Kevin Friend. Milwall eventually lost 3-2 to Oldham.

   

Matthew Connolly played 90 minutes for Colchester as they drew with Norwich at Layer Road.

There was more frustration for Kerrea Gilbert as, once again, he was left out of Southend’s match day squad.

And finally, Mexican sensation Carlos Vela will be hoping to get some action for Osasuna tonight as they take on the mighty Real Madrid.
