Reserves win again

Arsenal reserves claimed their second win in successive games as first-half strikes from Rui Fonte and Nacer Barazite were enough to see off the threat of Derby County at the Pirelli Stadium. Banfield included several first-teamers in his side. Lukasz Fabianski made his reserves debut between the sticks, whilst defenders Philippe Senderos and Armand Traore also got a run out. It didn’t take long for the Gunners to make an impression. First Lansbury and Barazite came close with decent efforts, then another shot by the Dutchman was halted unconvincingly by Price and it fell to Fonte who nodded home his first goal at Reserve level for the club. Barazite made it 2-0 on 37 minutes following a long ball from Senderos as Arsenal went into the break with a comfortable lead. Barazite has been the Reserves main man this season; not only has he been ever-present, but he is also the leading scorer with four goals. In the second half, Fabianski was beaten by Anthony Robertson’s strike, but Arsenal held out to rise up the League table once more.
