So, who’s going to get a scholarship next summer?
It’s about this time of year when the club tend to decide which young players they should offer a scholarship for the forthcoming season and which should be released simply because they’re not good enough. There have been several schoolboys turning out for the u-18s already this season and here I examine their chances of getting a scholarship next summer:
Emmanuel Frimpong has been a regular for Arsenal u-18s this season and has played for England at u-16 level. A real powerhouse in the Vieira mould and he looks certain for a scholarship next season if he continues to put in decent performances.
Jack Wilshere has scored goals galore at u-18 level this season, much like Rhys Murphy did before him. He can play in midfield too and will be looking to push on into the reserves before the end of the season. alt=”cede.jpg” />
Cedric Evina seems to have it made at Arsenal. The French left-back has trained with the first team on numerous occasions and when he gets a scholarship it will probably lead to Rene Steer being released.
Conor Henderson has played a few u-18 games this year and looks a real prospect. However, he has a lot of decent players in his position, such as Randall and Lansbury.
Ahmed Abdulla is a Saudi Arabian striker who can score for fun but will he find it difficult to break into the u-18s?
Oliver Nicholas and Sam Byles are two more youngsters who may get scholarships and they have both represented England at u-16 level. A decision will be made on Byles in January.
Jonas Hebo Ramussen will also be looking to gain a scholarship having played for the u-18s against Norwich recently.

Jonas Hebo Rasmussen will join next summer. He already is training at Arsenal.
Yeah, he played for the u-18s on Saturday
Jay Simpson has done well at Millwall. It is time to bring him on and get him playing with the gunners. He is getting a lot of experience for his age.
What james Shea needs is experience at this level and he can only get it by playing.Unfortunately the really experienced goalkeeers are too old to jump about.
Good reading your key moments and performances for the youth team Jeorge. It is very good history now we need a good fututre to match it.
When i watched the School Boy Victory Shield Games on Sky Sports last year if i am being perfectly honest here out of all the young Arsenal Football players on show the likes of Chucks Aneke and Sam Byles impressed me the least especialy Sam Byles mabey he was just far to nervous on the day/days that i saw him play, i mean playing for England at any level for the first time must be mentaly very tough thing to handle, but somebody like Fulham’s right back Keanu Marsh Brown who played in the same position as Sam Byles for the England U16’s team at right back, took to international football like a duck to water and who also looked like to me, technicaly wise on a different level to Sam Byles during those games that i saw on the television last autum
We couldn’t agree with you more. The lad keanu made everything he did look so easy almost effortless. He looks as though he is a technical player with great positioning and composure. Can’t believe he will not be 16 until August. A star in the making along with about 6 others that really stood out in the victory shield. I read somewhere that someone could not believe he wasn’t an arsenal player. His movement on and off the ball is great. Fulham need to look after such a talent in the making would be mad to let him get away, but if a bigger team comes in for him can’t blame him if he goes. Sorry fulham
Again we got to see England in action. I have to agree with the teams from Japan, Germany and France we played our best football against Germany, who by the way along with Japan, France and the Officials of the tournament voted KEANU MARSH-BROWN of Fulham The MAN OF THE MATCH – AS WELL AS AWARDING HIM THE BEST ENGLAND PLAYER TROPHEY. He had to deal with the best german player on the pitch and did. Again sorry to say as an arsenal fan Sam Byles, PLEASE STOP TRYING, WAS OUT OF HIS DEPTH ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE. The lad Keanu was composed, strong, determined and elegant on the pitch and going forward was just unbelievable (2 players in 1)
Best players for England are as follows: FRIMPONG, MARSH-BROWN, BAXTER AND FRYERS.
Well done England you did better than last years age group. VICTORY CUP AND MONTAIGU TOURN what more can we ask for. Hopefully they keep this group of lads that played against Germany together and build around them.
