So, who’s going to get a scholarship next summer?

It’s about this time of year when the club tend to decide which young players they should offer a scholarship for the forthcoming season and which should be released simply because they’re not good enough. There have been several schoolboys turning out for the u-18s already this season and here I examine their chances of getting a scholarship next summer:

Emmanuel Frimpong has been a regular for Arsenal u-18s this season and has played for England at u-16 level. A real powerhouse in the Vieira mould and he looks certain for a scholarship next season if he continues to put in decent performances.
Jack Wilshere has scored goals galore at u-18 level this season, much like Rhys Murphy did before him. He can play in midfield too and will be looking to push on into the reserves before the end of the season. alt=”cede.jpg” />

Cedric Evina seems to have it made at Arsenal. The French left-back has trained with the first team on numerous occasions and when he gets a scholarship it will probably lead to Rene Steer being released.
Conor Henderson has played a few u-18 games this year and looks a real prospect. However, he has a lot of decent players in his position, such as Randall and Lansbury.
Ahmed Abdulla is a Saudi Arabian striker who can score for fun but will he find it difficult to break into the u-18s?
Oliver Nicholas and Sam Byles are two more youngsters who may get scholarships and they have both represented England at u-16 level. A decision will be made on Byles in January.
Jonas Hebo Ramussen will also be looking to gain a scholarship having played for the u-18s against Norwich recently.
